We were born and raised in Gemmayzé and lived in Beirut for more than 20 years before moving to London. We fell in love with the “La wein” painting as it reminded us of two charming Lebanese houses located in front of our barber in Ashrafieh. We decided to hang it in the entrance of our flat to think about our beloved Lebanon at entrance and exit. It’s also a good reason to explain the “La wein” story to our foreign friends and show them the beauty of Lebanon.

This art piece “Her Soul in Details” patched some of that longing homesick feeling of being away from our birthplace. It brought the warmth of Lebanon’s shoreline and its friendly people. It is a piece full of life, the busy city life, surrounded with traditional houses and people strolling down the promenade, facing the blue mediterranean waters. Lamia’s work touches you, brings the nostalgia and love of Lebanon in every piece

When I saw this painting, “The One who Tickles and Nurtures Nature” in one of the FB groups I felt like this is someone I know very well. I had a name for him right away. I could almost hear him talk to me and I knew what he was going to say. With everything going on in Lebanon and farmers being squeezed literally out of their land. I felt like “Abu Ali” “The One who Tickles” needs to come home.

France

There is a positive energy emanating from this painting “House with Identity”.

I could almost hear kids playing and laughing in front of this mansion.

It is joyfull, colorfull.

This is not a melancholic painting of an old mansion with a faded glorious past, but a smiley and vibrant Lebanon.

The one we love. Despite all.
